What Mixpanel does

Mixpanel is a product analytics platform with funnels, retention, flows, segmentation and shareable reports. It has a free plan of up to 1 million events a month, and paid plans charge by event volume, according to the prices Mixpanel published in October 2026. Check its website before deciding.

Watch out for. As with PostHog, the value depends on someone on the team asking the right questions and reading the reports often. Mixpanel does not open the finding on its own or carry the change into the product.

What Holdy does

Holdy reads your product's events, composes them into behaviors with your business rules and watches the state of each behavior per account. When something changes it opens the opportunity on its own, with the evidence, the affected accounts and a written action plan. The change reaches the product as an in-product message to the right users or as a draft pull request on GitHub, and Holdy reads the metric again afterwards to show whether it worked. A person still decides: nothing ships without approval.

When to pick Mixpanel

  • The team has an analyst or PM who lives inside the reports.
  • You need deep segmentation and reports shared across several teams.
  • The pain is answering questions, not deciding what to do.

When to pick Holdy

  • The pain is deciding: where the problem comes from, what the priority is and which action to take.
  • You want the finding delivered with the affected accounts and the plan, without building an analysis.
  • You want the change in the product and the result measured against a holdout group, in behavior and in MRR, not just the report.

Can I use Holdy together with Mixpanel?

Yes. The Mixpanel connector brings in the event history you already collect, so Holdy starts watching with a sample from day one. With Holdy's SDK installed, events come only from the SDK.

How Holdy charges

The unit is the active account: each of your customers, company or workspace, with at least one event in the last 30 days counts once, no matter how many people it has. Your team's seats, events and integrations are never charged. Launch is US$29 (BRL 149) a month up to 100 active accounts and Growth is US$99 (BRL 490) a month up to 1,000 active accounts; beyond that, Corporate on request. Free is free, with 5 questions and 3 AI-generated improvements a month. Entry is the Free plan, no card. Plans are at /pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to replace Mixpanel with Holdy?

No. Holdy runs on top of Mixpanel: you connect it, Holdy pulls the history and starts reading your accounts' behavior the same day, with no migration. The team's reports stay in Mixpanel. Holdy's SDK is an optional next step, for sessions, flows and changes delivered straight into the product.

What is the main difference between Holdy and Mixpanel?

Mixpanel answers questions with reports. Holdy watches behavior per account, opens the opportunity on its own with the evidence and the plan, carries the change into the product and reads the result afterwards.

Does Holdy do funnels and retention like Mixpanel?

Yes, but as a means, not an end. Activation, adoption, retention and time to value are composed from the behaviors you define, and Holdy uses those metrics to detect what changed and open the opportunity.

How does Holdy measure whether the change worked?

Every action leaves part of the accounts out, at random. Holdy compares both groups on the behavior the action targets and, when you send plan, MRR and status per account, on who converted and who churned. A money figure only shows up once the difference holds; before that it shows how many accounts converted in each group and says it can't tell yet.

What if my customer base is small?

The comparison needs a sample. With a few dozen accounts, many readings end in "can't tell yet", and Holdy says so instead of inventing a number. The finding, the opportunity and the plan work from day one; the proof of the result gets stronger as the base grows.
